Improving Beef Genetics & Advanced Record Keeping

Community Learning Centres (CLC) across the Province

Taking place in English, Forums are hosted at Community Learning Centres (CLC) across the Province beginning at 19h30 and ending by 22h00. 19 h 30 Welcome and introduction to the 2017 Forum Series 19 h 40 Bernard Doré , Agrologist An industry veteran, Bernard is currently an adviser with the Bovi-Expert group and works largely through the Réseau Agri-Conseils as a consultant/technical advisor in animal production delivering the PATBQ program. He also works as an external auditor for the PBQ. He has been a professional inspector in the Régie des productions animales for the Ordre des agronomes du Québec since September 2010 and a contract instructor at Carrefour BLE in Montreal since January 2008. He has delivered over 100 talks at different events, authored a number of articles published in journals and been a member of the CRAAQ beef committee since 2011 where he currently serves as president. 20 h 40 Mike McMorris, Executive Director, BIO BIO is an Ontario-based company specialising in on-line management tools to promote business growth through secure and accurate record keeping. Mike is obsessed with making life easier and more profitable for farmers. He grew up on a farm and went to the University of Guelph for a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a Master’s in Animal Breeding. His career spans 30 years and includes extension work with the Ministry of Agriculture; leading change as Executive Director with Ontario Cattlemen’s Association; program delivery (CAIS, crop insurance) at Agricorp; and the past ten years at BIO. He is very familiar with the changes that are in play for livestock farmers including traceability, verification programs, adjustments to deal with antimicrobial resistance and so on.
